Holistic horse practice: Balance

  • Østreng KOLSTADVEIEN 93 ASKIM (map)

Balance is a fundamental concept in all horse-human activities. From a cultural historical perspective, the horse has played a prominent role in the human-nature interaction, from mythological to practical. In Old Norse mythology the two horses Hrímfaxi and Skinfaxi create balance in the cycle of life. Balance involves physical awareness for horse and rider as well as mental consciousness. Indeed balance is a concept relevant for all parts of life. The human horse relation is a good starting point for bringing awareness to the relation between body and mind, movement and rest, challenges and relaxation. How do we achieve balance and how will balance affect our relations?

Theoretical introduction and colloquial discussions, followed by optional individual practice.
