Holistic horse practice + massage


Body and mind, movement and rest, challenge and relaxation - everything is connected when horse and human grow together. In this clinic, we explore “balance” as a guide in health-promoting training and relational development for horse and human. From a cultural historical perspective, the horse has played a prominent role in the human-nature interaction, from mythological to practical. The horse has been treated with great respect and thoughtful care. The Academic Art of Riding promotes thoughtful use of gymnastic exercises to build up a horse and keep it healthy as long as it lives. This clinic combines perspectives from the academic art of riding and principles from cultural history, and is suitable for anyone, beginners and advanced horse trainers, who wants to supplement their knowledge and expand their toolbox to have diverse and harmonious horse practice.

The clinic includes:

Saturday: 2* theoretical lessons, 2* individual tuition of you and your horse (own horse or rental horse), lunch and coffee. Price: 1000kr (+ 100 kr horse rental fee) Theory and practice by Karoline Kjesrud (PhD, Østreng)

Spectator Saturday: 2* theoretical lessons + spectator individual tuitions, lunch and coffee (500kr)

Sunday: Massage of horse and human by Naomi Paas (Certified horse masseuse, certified human masseuse, BA in Animal Care and Husbandry). The treatment lasts for 1,5h in total, and includes diagnosis, massage of horse and massage of rider. You will be taught stretching techniques for daily habilitation and rehabilitation of your horse. Lunch and coffee.

If you do not bring your own horse, treatment and tuition in stretching techniques will be possible on Østreng’s horses.
